Our processes have been specifically developed into simple sprints to ensure our projects run as smoothly as possible. By breaking your project down into bite-sized chunks we aim to relieve any overwhelming feelings as well as set milestones and delivery expectations.

Discovery & definition
We’ll arrange a meeting with you where we’ll discuss your audience needs and business goals. From the answers gathered in our meeting, we will then map your user/customer journeys, create a site map, produce wireframes of the key pages, and design your content flow. If you already have an existing website we’ll conduct a content audit.
We’ll then define your project outcomes, technical requirements, and the art direction of your website. At the end of the discovery and definition process, you’ll receive the following documentation.
Deliverables:
- Information architecture (site map and navigation)
- User/customer journey(s)
- Wireframes and content flow of key pages
- Content audit (if required)
- Technical requirements document
- Digital style guide
- Project plan (milestones and deliverables)
- Digital marketing strategy (Toolkit only)
Included in: Go-Pro Toolkit, Intrepid Toolkit

Design
Once we have a clear idea of your information architecture and content we can then start designing your website. Your designs will be developed as full-colour mock-ups which will be presented in a design review meeting. We’ll then work with you, reviewing and refining through an iterative process leading to a final design you are happy with.
Deliverables
- Full-colour mock-ups of your website
- Design iterations

Digital Assets
Following on from the discovery, definition, and design processes we then produce the digital assets needed for your social media and e-marketing platforms.
Deliverables
- Social media cover, profile, and banner images
- Email footer / signature
- Email template(s) for e-marketing in MailChimp
Included in: Venture Toolkit, Go-Pro Toolkit, Intrepid Toolkit

Content gathering
One of the hardest challenges most of our customers face is writing content for their website. There are several ways where we try to help reduce your pain point.
- We will have identified and listed all the content required for your website in the discovery sprint, knowing ‘what you need’ brings you one step closer.
- We work with you to shape the key messaging and ‘micro copy’ you need for audience engagement.
- We assist you in setting up documents or platforms, that you feel comfortable using, so that you can share your content with us.
- If you have an existing website we can scrape the content into a document so that you can re-purpose it for your new website.
- If you are struggling for time, or lack confidence with your writing, we can recommend copy writers that will help you create the content for your website.
- It’s not just about words, your website also conveys it’s message through images. We can help research and source stock images for you if required for an additional fee. If you need something more specific like an info graphic or animated slideshow, we can provide that as a separate add-on service.
- We will always resize, crop, optimise, and adjust the vibrance of your images so that they look their best on your website.
- We can provide an art direction brief if you are using a photographer. We can help you find a photographer through our networks, if you are local to us.
- If you do not already have a privacy policy and website terms and conditions we recommend Termageddon (affiliate link). Termageddon provides policies for your website that update when the laws changed. Their price is $10 per month or $99 per year.
Once the content for your website has been supplied we can then start building it.
Deliverables
- Website copy (text, images and videos)

Build & Testing
We develop and build the website based on the designs, technical requirements, and your content. We only use WordPress, and we are specialists in the Genesis Framework (and are listed as recommended by the owners of StudioPress).
We will install and configure a few necessary plugins, as required. For example, we add a plugin that enables the meta title and description to be customised for onsite SEO.
We take care with how the website is presented on different devices and browsers – testing the website with a variety of devices and modern browsers.
During the design phase, care is taken to ensure the design is accessible and that is continued through to the development of the website. We consider such things like:
- sufficient colour contrast for people with visual impairments and dyslexia;
- ensuring that elements are distinguishable not by colour alone, so they are recognisable to people with colour blindness;
- that you can navigate the website without the use of a mouse for those with mobility issues;
- that audio content is transcribed for the hearing impaired (although please note we do not provide the transcription); that the text is appropriately spaced for readability; and
- that interactive elements have appropriate hover and focus states.
During this development sprint, if required, we will set up Mailchimp (or other) to capture subscribe email addresses and set up either an automated campaign to send your blog posts to subscribers or a newsletter template.
We will test the website in the current versions of major desktop browsers including those made by Apple (Safari), Google (Chrome), Microsoft (Edge), Mozilla Firefox and Opera.
Deliverables
- Website ready for review

Review & user acceptance testing
When we have finished the build of the website and conducted our own testing, we will present the website in a virtual meeting for you to review. This is your opportunity to go through the website and inform us of any revisions you require. There will usually be something, so don’t be shy! We allow in this proposal for up to five hours of revisions, as that typically covers all requests. If you need more extensive revisions than are possible in this allowance then we will discuss the cost of that.
This is also the time for you to do your own testing. For example, you should test that the website is intuitive to use, easy to navigate and all the content you provided is uploaded.
Once you have completed your own testing and are happy with your website, we schedule the training session and launch of the website.
Deliverables
- Website ready for launch
Included in: Simple Website, Venture Toolkit, Go-Pro Toolkit, Intrepid Toolkit

Training
One of the main reasons for using WordPress is so that you can manage the website in the future yourself, therefore we include a training session. What we include depends on your familiarity with WordPress but will cover the basics for adding, editing, and deleting content (text, images, and videos). In the training, we will also show you how to make changes to the website navigation, onsite SEO basics, and software maintenance.
Within your website dashboard, we will give you access to instructional videos for you to refer to.
Deliverables
- Virtual training (recorded and made available for future use)
- Instructional videos in your WordPress dashboard
Included in: Simple Website, Venture Toolkit, Go-Pro Toolkit, Intrepid Toolkit

Final delivery and launch
When you are ready, your website will be launched. We will set up Google Analytics and submit a sitemap in Google Search Console to encourage the search engines to re-index your website.
If you have an existing website, inevitably there will be pages that have been removed or replaced and will have different links to them. To ensure that no one, following an old link, goes to a “page not found” page on your website, we will set up redirection so that they will be sent to the nearest equivalent page.

Support and aftercare
From the date of launch, we’ll keep your website on our backup system for 4 weeks and will keep your website software up to date. We are available for any bug fixes. These should be minimal because they should have been identified, and fixed, at the User Acceptance Testing sprint. After this time you may wish to take out our website care plan for that extra peace of mind. Our care plan is entirely optional.
We will also invite you to join our Facebook group ‘Callia Community’ where we share important news and announcements from the industry (as and when they are released) about any potential issues and keeping your website healthy.

We are feeling very proud of our brilliant new website!
Many thanks to our superb web designers Callia Web and to the Arts Council England funded South West Museum Development Programme for the grant so we could build this excellent new digital showcase for Crofton Beam Engines and the Kennet and Avon Canal Trust.
