What We Did
There were two main aspects that needed to be considered when working on this project. Firstly Stuart was looking for a clean website that was free from clutter or distraction so the theme design, images and colour choices needed to reflect this. The StudioPress Monochrome Pro theme was chosen for it's clean and minimal feel and a structure that worked well with Stuart's content.
Secondly, we spent time working with Stuart to design and develop the functionality and search result pages. The data needed to be presented clearly and logically, and allow enough space for 3 school comparisons on the screen. As well as the results data, Stuart also wanted to publish a series of questionnaires 'Ask Schoolsmith' that he had designed to guide his audience and direct traffic to his informative school posts. We developed an accordion for the questionnaires so that they would be organised and displayed logically.
We built the Schoolsmith website on WordPress, installed the theme and plugins and uploaded all the content and data. We then customised the theme and created the advanced custom fields required to enable Stuart to upload new school data and questionnaires with ease. Finally, we set up Stuarts MailChimp RSS campaign and integrated it with his website.
The Brief
Stuart wanted a website that would allow him to publish comparison results and information about schools in order to help parents looking for appropriate school choices for their children. Stuart had spent years researching and interviewing parents and had a huge amount of data that needed to be presented in a clean and clear format that would be simple to use.
Client Feedback
When I asked Callia Web to build a website for me I had high expectations. Yes, they came recommended from Genesis, yes, their other websites were beautiful, and yes they had won prizes. I wasn't disappointed…!
