An Introduction to Genesis action and filter hooks

20 Jul 2015

Wow. Genesis Camp this weekend was awesome, wasn’t it?

If you missed anything you can catch up with all the videos on the Genesis Camp Sessions page.

I presented a talk entitled “How do you find the hook you need?” and it covers:

  • What is a hook?
  • What is an action hook?
  • What is a filter hook?
  • How do you use them?
  • What can you do with them?
  • And how can you find the one you need.

You can watch the video here.

You can see the rest of the Genesis Camp videos on YouTube.

And you should also check out Chris Cochran’s talk on Genesis Hooks too, here.

And if you’ve got any questions, please do ask them in the comments below.

Hi Jo, thanks for the video on action hooks and filters.

I’m just starting out with Genesis myself, and I’ve been trying to get my head around hooks and filters without great success, but your video helps make sense of it all. I must admit I began to wonder “what was the point of the Genesis framework, it just makes everything so hard!” But I am glad I persisted, as I’m beginning to see the power that it has if you can get to grips with all this stuff.

Thanks again and keep up the good work.

      Hi Mark,

I’m so pleased I could help in some small way. Yes it requires a little persistence but once you get there you will see just how powerful and flexible it makes Genesis.

Good luck and don’t forget to check out the other great talks at Genesis Camp.

      Cheers
      Jo
