What We Did
We started the process, working closely with Justine, to analyse the content and develop a sitemap. This process evolved over the course of the project as Justine made the decision to get rid of her existing website and absorb it into her new one, and instead of linking to a range of products she wanted to sell these through the new website too.
Alongside the developing structure, we worked with Justine and her team to create a colour palette and design mock-ups thinking creatively as things evolved. As Justine had a lot of experience in publishing books and food styling, she was keen for a custom built website that would reflect her style and wanted a clean website with a lot of white space.
We researched the best plugins to provide the shop and event/course functionality, selecting WooCommerce and The Events Calendar. We then helped Justine and her team collate their content and photographs for the website.
We started the build of Justine’s mobile responsive, custom WordPress theme using the Genesis Framework, with styling for WooCommerce and The Events Calendar. We uploaded the content and photographs, installed and configured various plugins, and set up the Stripe payment gateway.
At launch we installed a security certificate so the site operates over https, installed Google Analytics and submitted a sitemap to Google Webmaster and completed all the redirection from the old site work.
Justine Pattison, a cookery writer and author of a best-selling series of books came to us for a website that would allow her to expand her overall brand. She wanted a new website to run alongside her existing website where she could sell cookery courses, publish her popular recipes and videos, link to a range of products, and connect with her following through a blog.
Jo and her team have worked enthusiastically and energetically on creating a beautiful, functional website which embodies the brief and exceeds expectation.
